November Favorite Beauty Products

CHANEL VITALUMIERE AQUA FOUNDATION
I'd been going back and forth whether to buy this foundation or not for a few months back in spring. I had heard many good reviews on youtube, but the price was way too high for me. Luckily, my mother got sick of my to-buy-or-not-to-buy questions and decided to buy it for me. :)
I had never had luck with my foundations. They either weren't the right color or made my skin look patchy, so I was really hoping this one would be good. And it is! The color I got it in is completely matching my skin tone (I tried it on my face at the departmen store before buying it), my dry patches now finally look like normal skin; it is long lasting; has a light to medium coverage but is also buildable; gives my skin an airbrushed effect; and  I don't even feel like I'm wearing any foundation. All in all, I think this is the best foundation for me and I'll definitely be repurchasing it despite the price. The only thing I have to warn you about is that you need to shake it really hard before using it; otherwise it will be very watery.

Price: 35€ for 30ml

AVON'S UCR CARNATION LIPSTICK

I don't have much to say about this lipstick. I really like the color of it and it's also quite moisturizing. Otherwise, it's just a normal lipstick, nothing special.

Price: I believe it was about 9€, but the Avon prices vary all the time...

CHINA GLAZE'S SKYSCRAPER NAIL POLISH

This color is so pretty that words can't even describe it! But I have to be honest. This is one of my all time favorite nail polishes just because of the color. Why? It chips like crazy! It lasts a day and then my nails look like a hamster has been chewing on them, lol. Oh, and it's also really hard to get it off. I  actually just peel it off, because it would probably take me a day if I wanted to remove it with aceton.

Price: depends on the country (I got it for 11€, but you can get it for $2.75 in the USA

8 Most Worn Things Tag: Fall Edition

A few weeks ago, my sister made '8 Most Worn Things Tag' and she also tagged me so here we go! I'm thinking of doing this tag for every season, would you be interested in seeing that?

LIPSTICK/LIPGLOSS
Both these products are from Avon. The lipstick is in the color Carnation, but I'm not sure about the lip gloss as it is quite old and the name has rubbed off.

JEWELRY
I got this statement ring from Accessorize a few months ago and I love it so much! It adds a bit of fun to my plain school oufits.

SHIRT
This jumper is from H&M. It's very basic, but I love to wear it during my long days at school because it's warm, loose and cozy.

NAIL POLISH
I'm changing up my nail color all the time, but this is the nail polish I've been wearing A LOT this fall. You can check out my review of it here.

HANDBAG
I don't have much to say about this handbag. It's from H&M and it already started to fall apart, but I really like to use it for school because it's big enough to carry the bazillion things I have with me.

HAIR PRODUCT
This is my most used hair product of all times, but I won't say much about it because the full review is coming very soon. :)

PERFUME
I honestly don't love this perfume all that much, but I have so many of them and I really have to use them up before buying new ones. Avril Lavigne's Black Star is just the first one from the list. :D

SHOES
I got these at Humanic about a month ago. They were not cheap, but I'm happy I bought them. I had to get used wearing them as they're quite heavy, but they're just the perfect autumn boots.

I tag of you! Please paste a link to your post in the comment below so I can check it out. :)

Guest Blogger Post: Warm Ups for the Dorm Room

Hi, I'm Susi, a blogger for Arcadian Lighting, where I write about lighting ideas and trends for the home. I love getting out and visiting different design blogs, so I'm excited to be here at The Puzzle of Sandra's Life today. Dorm rooms are notoriously impersonal spaces. From textiles and pillows to light fixtures, here are some ideas to warm up for a dorm room and make it feel more personal and cozy. Enjoy!

Dorm Decor

Warm up a dorm room both visually and comfortably with textiles. Piles of pillows, cozy throws, comforters and coverlets can all create an inspired space that is also cozy.

Dorm Decor

Bold, bright colors in throws and pillows warm up this dorm room. Custom DIY headboards of burlap add great texture and create the perfect backdrop for all that cozy color.

Dorm Room

This image is a little blurry but it is such a great dorm room that I just had to use it. This is a fantastic example of how textiles and bedding can warm up a dorm room. Curtains are a must for softening the window and providing privacy. The clever little wall lights are perfect for reading or studying in bed.

Dorm Decor

Warm up potentially cold dorm room floors with an area rug. Traditional or contemporary patterned rugs warm up the space, and also add color and pattern.

Dorm Decor

Pops of color and a lovely table lamp warm up the sleeping area in this dorm room. Pretty bed linens that are also cozy are a great choice to warm up the space.

Dorm Decor

Color on the walls in the form of stripes warm up this dorm room. Since most dorms do not allow you to paint, think about using fabric and starch to add color and pattern to the walls.

Dorm Decor

Twinkling white lights are popular in dorm rooms for the soft, warm light they provide. I love this idea to use them as a lighting fixture and to hold postcards and pictures, too.

Dorm Decor

Replace dorm room furniture with flea market and thrift store finds to create a warm and stylish space. If you can't put the dorm furniture in storage, cover it with throws and textiles that have great texture and pattern.

If you're leaving home for the first or returning to dorm life, it can make a huge difference to have a warm, welcoming place to come back to after class. Stop by Arcadian Lighting's blog for fresh ideas and inspiration for your dorm or home decor needs daily! (Images: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8)

Save or Splurge

Burberry Prorsum is one of my favorite designer brands; their trench coats are out of this world! But as much as I would love to own some of their items, I doubt that I'll ever have enough money to actually buy them, so I'm always looking out for ''dupes''. The Burberry Prorsum Gebardine and Leather Sleeve Trench Coat, which you can see on the left, was really popular last season. I fell in love with it the second I saw it on the runway. Of course, it costs a fortune, but if you're looking for a cheaper version, the Topshop Stone Faux Leather Sleeve Belted Trench Coat looks pretty great too. It originally costs about $200 in the shops, but I found it here on Ebay for $150, which seems quite a reasonable price.

Today on the Menu: Nutella Cake

It was my mother's birthday a month ago, so my sister and I decided to make her a cake. I was really anxious about how it would turn out because this was my first time baking a cake, but it was really delicious, so I decided to share the recipe with you.

WHAT YOU NEED:

DOUGH
○ 6 eggs
○ 12 dag of sugar
○ 18 dag of flour
○ 1 bag of baking powder
○ 1 bag of vanilla sugar
○ 4-5 tablespoons of Nutella

FILLING
○ 0.5 l of sweat cream
○ 5 tablespoons of Nutella

ICING
○ 2 dcl of water
○ 5 tablespoons of sugar

TOPPING
○ 2 bananas
○ chocolate or rainbow vermicelli

HOW TO DO IT:
Seperate all the egg whites and the egg yolks. Put the egg whites into one bowl and the egg yolks into another one. Then, put 6 dag of sugar into the bowl with egg yolks and then mix the mixture with a mixer. Put another 6 dag of sugar into the bowl with the egg whites and mix the mixture until you get firm peaks.

Put 5 tablespoon of Nutella, 18 dag of flour, one vanilla sugar, one baking powder and the firm peaks into the bowl with the mixture of egg yolks and sugar. Mix everything together. Oh, and I recommend you to add flour slowly/gradually.

Put the dough mixture into an oven and bake on 180°C for about half an hour. When the baking is finished, wait for the dough to cool down and then slice it horizontally so that you get 3 layers.

In a bowl, whip the cream and add 5 tablespoons of Nutella to get the icing.

In a small pot, boil 2 dcl of water and 5 spoons of sugar, let it cool down and first put the water and  then spread the icing on the top of each layer of the cake. I had some of it left so I also put it all around the cake.

Lastly, decorate the cake with a sliced banana and vermicelli. Put it in a fridge for a few hours and then... EAT! :D

Nail of the Day

This is the combination I've been going back to all autumn long. It looks so gorgeous when the light catches the glittery parts, but sadly, my camera didn't want to capture the magic. Anyway, the nail polishes you can see on the photos are 'Let's Talk About Barrie!' by Catrice and 'Time for Romance' by Essence (colour & go collection). Which is your favorite fall nail polish?

What I'm Loving: October 2011

iPad
If you follow me on twitter, you probably already know that I got an iPad about a month ago. When it first came out, I thought it was the stupidest thing, but after a while, I started to realize how awesome it is and now I'm completely in love with it. I decided to get it mostly because of school as I hated my hand-written notes last year. I write too slow to put down everything professors say, so I really needed something. One of the options was my laptop, of course, but it's way to big and too heavy to carry it with me all day long, so I made a decision to buy an iPad. I really don't regret it one bit! What I also like about it is that I can take it with me when I travel and only need an electronic device to check my mail, read blogs and do random other stuff on the interent. The only thing that's been bugging me is that I can't write and publish posts on my blog. I really have to figure this thing out before my future travels. Does anybody know if there are any apps that would make this possible?

Pixlr-o-matic App (for iPads or computers)
And while we're taliking about an iPad, I may as well share my new favorite app with you. It's called pixlr-o-matic and you can use if to transform your photos. You can find so many cool effects on there! It's free and it's also avaliable for computers. You can check it out here

<-- This is how I edited one of my boring photos.

2 Broke Girls
This sitcom is hilarious! You really have to watch it if you don't do it already. It is set in Brooklyn and follows the lives of two young waitresses - Max, who comes from a poor working-class family, and Caroline, who was rich just until recently. Both broke, they become friends, move in together and dream about opening their very own cupcake shop.

This Photo
This is a photo of my sister I took two week ago. I don't know, I just love it. :D

By the way, she has her own blog now and you can check it out here.
