Sandra Reads: Gone Girl

My latest read is Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl. I heard people talking about this book a lot way back in the summer and after seeing that it landed on Amazon's best books of 2012 list, I decided to read it even though I usually don't read thrillers. I've been reading this book for months, literally. The first half of the book was quite boring, as nothing much has been happening in the story, so it took me ages to read those chapters. I would probably stopped reading it if I wasn't interested in how the book is going to end...

Now on to the actual story. Gone Girl is a thriller about a married couple. It begins with the wife's disappearance on the morning of their anniversary and the husband ends up being accused of her murder. This is everything I'm going to say because I don't want to spoil the book for you in case you haven't read it yet. As I have said, the first part of the book wasn't very interesting, but the second half was absolutely mind blowing. It becomes more and more tense and full of twists. I'm not going to lie, I find the story a bit fucked up - pardon my French - and the ending is absolutely ridiculous. I still don't know what to think about it. On one hand, it is very unpredictable and therefore interesting, but on the other hand, it's just WEIRD. This was my reaction when I reached the end: 'WTF?'. Lol. Considering the book's popularity, I'm sure at least some of you have read it. Am I right? What do you think about it? I'm really curious!
