NOTD: Essie Bikini So Teeny

Today I have a review of one of the most popular Essie nail polishes for you - Bikini So Teeny. It's one of those shades I've been avoiding buying because EVERYONE has it, but when I saw it in person, I just couldn't resist.

But as much as I love this color and Essie nail polishes in general, I can't say I'm too crazy about this particular one. Don't get me wrong, I still love it to death, but there are a couple of things that bother me. The first thing is the brush. Now, I don't know if that's because I bought the nail polish in the States, but this brush is super thin! All my other Essie nail polishes (that were bought in the UK or Austria) have huge brushes with which I'm absolutely obsessed with, so seeing this tiny one was quite a let down.

And another thing I've noticed is that the formula is very liquidy and sheer. Again, not something that I've experienced with my other Essie nail polishes. I usually need to apply two coats and sometimes even one would be enough, but with this one three coats are pretty much obligatory. Other than that, it's a lovely nail polish. It doesn't streak and lasts pretty long on my nails. And of course, the colour is absolutely gorgeous! I'm still a bit confused, though. Are Essie nail polishes in the US completely different from the ones that are sold in Europe? Or did I just get a really weird bottle? I'm very curious now what kind of Essie nail polishes are sold in my country, as I haven't bought any here yet...

  5. The colour is great , it sad you have to apply so many times and the brush is so not what I used to see in Essie;s polishes too.

  13. Haha I didn't buy this because everyone had it too! I haven't noticed anything odd with the brushes on the polish here, maybe the US ones are different? Fiji is also a great colour x

  15. That colour! I must have! haha I am honestly in love with that shade, specially now that we're getting to spring in this side of the world. I have been loving baby pinks and really light blue shades, even lighter than the nail polish in the photo, but this one seems such a must! Thin brushes aren't my thing either, it seems a lot harder to apply. I love then the brushes are big and the formula isn't sheer, that way, only one coat is enough :-)

  16. Essie have only just arrived to Priceline (the Aussie version of Boots) and I bought Bikini So Teeny (not realising that everyone else has had it, just liking the colour) and I agree with you. If the formula and brush of this one is the same as the others, I don't understand what the hype for Essie is all about. Considering they are retailing for $16.95 over here I think I'll just stick to my normal faves :) Good honest review though
