The Week When It Snowed

Unlike the last two weeks, this week hasn't been too eventful. I started my knee therapy and my dad has been driving me to the clinic every day, which I couldn't appreciate more. If I had to go by myself, I would waste at least five hours every day, because I would have to take the train, the bus and walk for ages, which definitely wouldn't be the most enjoyable thing to do in this cold winter weather. Speaking of weather, we finally got snow this week! Not that I'm excited or anything, because I pretty much hate everything that comes with it. Freezing cold, icy roads, falling on my butt... You get the idea. The only time I would actually like to see snow is for Christmas, but of course, we never get it on time. Anyway, as I have said, nothing much happened this week. I was still recovering from my awful cold and I've been terribly sleepy all the time, so I spent most of my afternoons in bed, watching TV shows and feeling sorry for myself. Luckily, I started feeling much better a few days ago, so I even managed to go to see my sister's basketball games during the weekend and film a few videos.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK

Getting my make-up artist certificate. I technically got the certificate in the mail while I was in London, but I forgot to share the news with you last week, so I thought I would mention it this week. I was attending the make-up course and passed the exam back in November, so the feeling of euphoria has already gone away, but it was really nice to receive this certificate and have it all written down on paper. Oh, and guess what! I'll be attending the second part of the course as well! My classes start in exactly one week. Last week, I pretty much gave up on the idea of me going back to makeup school, because the price was way too high and I couldn't afford it, but then a few days ago, I received an e-mail from the school coordinator telling me that they lowered the price of the program, and I enrolled right away. I guess some things are just meant to be. I can't wait to learn even more things about makeup artisrty! The course consists of four advanced modules - airbrush, studio, bridal and high fashion. I'm especially excited about the last two, as these are the areas I see myself working in once I'm done with the course and gain enough experience.

Seeing Frozen. I am not a huge fan of animated movies apart from The Lion King, so it's pretty hard to convince me to go watch one, but my sister has a very persistent personality and it was only a matter of time before she forced me to watch Frozen. She discovered it a few days ago, became obsessed with it and watched it three times in one day! Crazy person. So, yeah, I just had to see what the deal is. Surprisingly, I loved it! I really enjoyed the story, because it was different from the usual princessy fairytales. It has a good amount of humour and action, and the soundtrack is pretty fabulous as well!

SONG OF THE WEEK

Let It Go. My favorite song from Frozen. Love the lyrics and the melody! Below you can see the one from the movie sung by Idina Menzel, but there is also a Demi Lovato version, which you can check out here. Also, I discovered an amazing cover by Caleb Hyles, which is awesome on a whole another level! And yes, I am totally one of those annoying people who listen to the same song over and over again until they get tired of it. I even check out pretty much all the covers on youtube, haha. That's a great way of finding amazing unknown artist, by the way. :P

WEB FIND OF THE WEEK

Lizzie Velasques' speech. Whenever I'm bored, lazy or feel like I need some inspiration, I usually end up watching TED talks on youtube. Once I start, I'm good for at least a few hours. A few days ago was one of those days. I went through quite a few amazing talks, but one that stood out to me was the one from Lizzie Velasques. She is so inspiring! And hilarious, may I add. I really need to check out her books.

BEAUTY TIP OF THE WEEK

Finding the right mascara has always been a bit of a struggle for me. I have naturally very clumpy eyelashes. They grow in clumps and stick together, and mascaras usually accentuate that even more. One thing I've counted on for several years are plastic wands. Most of them manage to seperate my lashes and define them without the spider effect, but recently, I discovered one trick that can make even the natural bristles work! It's really simple as well. Wipe that wand! Yes, just wipe in a tissue before you use it. It completely transforms the application and the final look. No more clumps in sight!
