My First Successful Cupcakes Recipe

I have another recipe for you guys! I’ve been baking some cupcakes on Sunday and was really surprised at how well they turned out. I was trying to make them for the first time a few years ago, and well, the whole thing ended up being a complete disaster, so I was a bit nervous  about this second attempt. I’m so proud they weren’t gooey + burnt at the same time, which is something that happened last time… 😀

I got the original recipe here on, where you can find lots of amazing recipes for cupcakes as well as for other things, but I had to make some changes to the recipe because I couldn’t find some of the ingredients at  my local store. Instead of golden caster sugar I used plain white sugar and instead of white wine vinegar, I put in apple vinegar. Buttermilk was also nowhere to be found where I live, so I asked uncle Google to help me out. He suggested that I should mix a spoon of lemon juice with a cup of normal milk and let the mixture sit for 5 minutes. I was very worried that this wouldn’t work, but my cupcakes ended up being totally delicious, so don’t worry if you can’t find any buttermilk yourself.

P.S. If you’re a newbie when it comes to making cupcakes, you can also watch a video on how to make cupcakes on the bakingmad site.

Now, I have a surprise for you! One of you can win these two cookbooks that you see in the photo above. The only thing you have to do is be my visible follower either on GFC, Facebook or bloglovin’, and leave me a comment below this post with your e-mail address. Good luck! The giveaway closes on March 6.

Well done, Sandra – the cupcake looks delicious! I also once tried to make chocolate cupcakes at home and it was a disaster – since then I've only been baking cakes and cookies! 🙂
