A few weeks ago my auntie and I made a very quick visit to a drugstore because I wanted to pick up the Essence lipstick I’d had on my wishlist. I was trying really hard not to pick up anything else, as I’m still on a spending ban, but it didn’t exactly worked out the way I wanted it to. I walked out with the Essence lipstick, a new foundation and the little gem I will be talking about today – Revlon Lip Butter in ‘Juicy Papaya‘.
I had no idea that we got the new collection of Lip Butters in my country, so I was a little bit shocked when I saw them staring at me. When the UK and the US bloggers have been talking about this new collection way back at the beginning of the summer, ‘Wild Watermelon‘ was the only shade that caught my attention. However, when I saw it in person, I figured out that it maybe wouldn’t be the smartest idea to buy it since I already own a few similar red-tinted shades. And then I saw ‘Juicy Papaya‘. The swatch looked amazing, but there was one tiny big problem. Peachy shades usually look horrendous on me. I was umming and ahhing for what it seemed like the longest time, and then my aunt finally ordered me to buy it. And you know, since I’m a very obedient person, I threw it in my shopping basket and decided to take a risk. Yes, I just called buying a lipstick a risk, alright? For a person who’s on a spending ban, buying a 10€ lip product that might end up looking horrendous is a risk-type situation. Thankfully, it all worked out. I LOVE the shade. Surprisingly, it looks great on me and is perfect for those understated everyday looks. Ok, now on to an actual review.
I already own three lip butters, the reviews of which you can see here and here, so I don’t know whether or not I should go into details again. I’m sure you’re already tired of all the Lip Butters reviews that have been going around in the blogosphere for the past year. In short, ‘Juicy Papaya‘ is more or less just like its siblings. It’s buttery and not really longlasting as it’s more of a lip balm kind of product. I already forgot how other shades feel on my lips because I haven’t been wearing them a lot for the past few months, but this one doesn’t feel too moisturizing. Having said that, it is not drying either. Maybe a little bit waxy. What I do remember, though, is that other shades that I own are more pigmented. This one doesn’t have the best pigmentation, but it is a rather light shade after all, so you can’t expect miracles, can you? To be honest, this is why I love it. It just looks really natural on me, which means that I can pair it with some bolder and darker eye looks as well. 😉
How are you feeling about the Lip Butters? Yay or nay? And what are your favourite shades from the new (now old) summer collection?
